THE MUSIC OF DISNEY
Who doesn't love Disney? The massive cultural significance of the films in the Disney animated canon (that’s films released by Walt Disney Feature Animation, beginning with Snow White in 1937), many of which can (and do) appeal to adults as well as children, is undeniable.
For ROZZ and MEILIN performing Disney songs seemed the obvious choice. Stirred, not shaken, since 2012, Rozz and Mei Lin have garnered a reputation for the electric and poetic, the absolute and the indefinite. Rozz the extrovert, pulls from the eclectic influences of Barbra Streisand, Joan Sutherland, Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones and Diamanda Galas. Mei Lin, the classically trained virtuoso, studied under renowned teacher Zenon Fishbein, and with Russian pianist Alexis Golovine, winning the 1995 Artists International Competition in New York and making her debut recital in Carnegie Hall. And for this round, the duo is proud to feature vocal prince of Borneo, Pete Kallang. Pete, who's popularity is fast growing is a captivating performer, reminiscent of great legends like James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Sam Smith, and is without a doubt one of the most prolific performers to come out of Sarawak in the 21st century and is destined to become a musical legend in his own right.
The trio will feature songs ranging from the modern Beauty and the Beast to classics like Snow White. The relationship one has to Disney's songs and movies may change but they’re far from easily forgotten.
